National Right to Life Endorses Dan Sullivan in Alaska Senate Race
Sullivan will bring “strong pro-life leadership to the U.S. Senate”

WASHINGTON – The National Right to Life Committee today endorsed Dan Sullivan for U.S. Senate in his campaign to unseat Sen. Mark Begich (D-Alaska).

“As attorney general, Dan Sullivan has been an outspoken leader in the fight to protect innocent human lives in Alaska,” said Carol Tobias, National Right to Life president. “Dan Sullivan will bring his strong pro-life leadership to the U.S. Senate.”

Sullivan’s strong pro-life position stands in sharp contrast with Senator Mark Begich, who has a 100% pro-abortion voting record in the U.S. Senate, and who supports a policy of abortion on demand, which allows abortion for any reason.

While attorney general, Dan Sullivan worked to defend the constitutionality of Alaska’s Parental Notification Initiative Act. In the U.S. Senate, Sullivan has said that he will vote for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – legislation, already approved by the U.S. House, that would protect unborn children in the sixth month or later, who are capable of feeling excruciating pain during abortions. Begich has said he will vote against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, thereby keeping these late abortions legal.

Sen. Begich’s pro-abortion position is so extreme that he is a co-sponsor of S.1696, legislation so radical that it has been referred to as the “Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Act.” This bill, if enacted, would invalidate nearly all state and federal limitations on abortion, including laws that protect individuals and private hospitals from being compelled to provide or participate in abortions.

Mark Begich voted for Obamacare, which provides government funding for health plans that pay for abortion on demand, and will result in the rationing of lifesaving medical treatments. Dan Sullivan is needed in the U.S. Senate to help reverse the abortion-expanding and rationing effects of that law.

“The most vulnerable members of our human family deserve better than Mark Begich’s extreme abortion policies,” said Tobias. “Alaska’s mothers and their unborn children deserve someone who will give them a voice in the U.S. Senate. They deserve Dan Sullivan.”

Involved in every election since Ronald Reagan’s election to the presidency, National Right to Life Political Action Committee (NRL PAC) was formed in 1979 as the political arm of National Right to Life. Founded in 1968, National Right to Life, the federation of 50 state right-to-life affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement, NRLC works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
