New International Families Club Sponsored by GLIP aims to Support Newcomer Trailing Spouses and Children Establish Life in Louisville

As part of its mission to engage & retain international professionals in Louisville, GLIP recognizes the importance of supporting and connecting the families of newly-arrived professionals. The International Families Club, led by a diverse and well-established group of international Louisville residents, will reach out to professional expats' "trailing spouses" and expat families.

The group will organize regular small-group activities to connect newcomer families. Their Facebook group will announce these events as well as other family-friendly activities around Louisville. Learn more about this group on the GLIP website or ask to join the Facebook group. If you're interested in helping out, please contact the group's chair, Béatrice Cholet.  


Say "Bem Vindo" to New GLIP Ambassador for Portugal

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Luis Neves, our newest GLIP Ambassador. Dr. Neves (please, call him Luis) is a Biomedical Engineer/Post Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Louisville and Principal Investigator for a Biomedical Engineering start-up firm.

After arriving in Louisville last summer, Neves didn't lose any time connecting with the business community and working with other Portuguese-speakers to organize events and activities, from language practice to Carnival parties. Learn more and keep up with events on his Portual Page.

Neves looks forward to his new role with GLIP: "I am excited about representing Portugal locally because I love my culture and even more the opportunity to share it with others."

Join the largest gathering of international professionals in the Greater Louisville area as we kick off our 2014 After-Hours Networking series with a celebration of some of Louisville's highly successful international women!

Originally from Taiwan, Cathy Tang grew up in Texas and later moved to Louisville to study at the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law. She quickly advanced to senior counsel roles and worked on a global level for Fortune 500 companies from Dell to PepsiCo, and today at YUM Brands.

Tang will share key insights to help women and international professionals to leverage their natural strengths and cultural background to advance their careers.


This event will also provide access to several women's leadership and professional organizations, including NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners), GLOW (Greater Louisville Outstanding Women), and NEW (Network of Entrepreneurial Women).
