Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, second only to skin cancer. The September edition of
Physician Focus with the Massachusetts Medical Society examines several aspects of breast cancer with two physicians from The Cancer Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Nadine M. Tung, M.D., director of the Cancer Genetics and Prevention Program at BIDMC, and Gerburg M. Wulf, a medical oncologist and researcher. Hosting this edition is B. Dale Magee, M.D., an obstetrician/gynecologist and a past MMS president.

Medical students and resident physician MMS members are eligible to apply for grants for up to $2,000 to defray the costs of study abroad. The program, administered by the MMS and Alliance Charitable Foundation, with input from the Committees on Global Health and Medical Education, aims to encourage international education, particularly focusing on underserved populations. Applications must be submitted
via an online application no later than 4:00 p.m. Sept. 15.

Worcester officials honored MMS Past President and former Worcester Public Health Director Leonard Morse, MD, this week with the dedication of The Morse Stroll at Elm Park. At the ceremony, MMS President Dennis Dimitri said of Dr. Morse: "He is a man of the highest ethical character. If you were to Google a scholar and a gentleman, Dr. Morse's picture would show up there and it would talk about the ethical way he has conducted every piece of business he has done."
