NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE ENDORSES STEVE DAINES FOR U.S. SENATE

WASHINGTON – The National Right to Life Committee today endorsed Rep. Steve Daines for United States Senate.

Rep. Daines opposes unrestricted abortion. He voted for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – groundbreaking legislation to protect unborn children at 20 weeks, a point by which the unborn child is capable of feeling great pain when being killed by dismemberment or other late abortion methods (6/18/13, Roll Call No. 251). Daines also voted for the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, a bill that would establish a permanent, government-wide policy against taxpayer funding of abortions (1/28/14, Roll Call No. 30).

In contrast, the radical abortion position of state Rep. Amanda Curtis is far out of the mainstream. Amanda Curtis supports a policy of abortion on demand, which allows abortion for any reason. She voted against a bill that would protect the rights of parents to be involved in their minor daughter’s abortion decision in Montana. Curtis also voted to use taxpayer dollars to pay for abortions in Montana.

Steve Daines stands in opposition to Obamacare – a law that created a national program of massive federal subsidies for insurance plans that cover abortion, and imposes rationing of lifesaving medical care – and he voted to repeal this destructive health care law. Amanda Curtis supports the pro-abortion, pro-rationing Obamacare law. Steve Daines is needed in the U.S. Senate to help reverse the abortion-expanding and rationing effects of that law.

“Montana mothers and their unborn children deserve better than the extreme pro-abortion policies of Amanda Curtis,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “The pro-life position of Steve Daines is a mainstream-America position.”

Involved in every election since Ronald Reagan’s election to the presidency, National Right to Life Political Action Committee (NRL PAC) was formed in 1979 as the political arm of National Right to Life. Founded in 1968, National Right to Life, the federation of 50 state right-to-life affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement, NRLC works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
