Ebola Preparedness for Office-Based Practices:  New Advice from CDC

The CDC has issued new advice and resources for office-based practices evaluating patients for possible Ebola symptoms.  The new material includes an algorithm for the evaluation of returned travelers and a checklist for evaluating patients for Ebola and Ebola Preparedness Considerations for Outpatient/Ambulatory Care Settings.

Much of the state and federal government’s Ebola preparedness outreach was focused on hospitals until late this week, when the CDC offered new office protocols and infection-control guidelines for other health care settings.

The Massachusetts DPH urges providers with questions, or patients they suspect could be infected with the virus, to call its 24/7 Epidemiology Hotline at (617) 983-6800.  Mass. DPH resources on Ebola can be found here
