Message from Michael Iacovazzi Pau, GLIP Director:
GLIP Members,
In 2009, Greater Louisville Inc. created Greater Louisville International Professionals to raise awareness of the importance of global talent for business expansion and attraction. I was hired to develop the program and engage the international community to build a solid foundation for the new organization. Over the years the GLIP staff, volunteer leadership and ambassadors have worked to further the organization’s mission by creating engagement and connection opportunities to attract and retain international professionals, executives and entrepreneurs. GLIP has gained the support of a number of corporations and private foundations interested in reaching and connecting with its diverse membership.
Today, our organization has close to 2000 members, hosts 20 events per year on topics as varied as global talent diversity, business and community leadership, and includes a wide range of networking opportunities through its programs. GLIP engages over 150 volunteers through its advisory board, country ambassadors committee, international families club, and the Amazing Global Marketplace®. It has been a leading force to host the annual Salsa Soul Sushi & Samosas event, in building bridges among many other diverse professional organizations in the region and co-founding of the Amazing Global Marketplace, a business to student high school mentorship program that inspires students to pursue international business careers.
After nearly five years at GLI, I have made the decision to resign and move on to the next phase of my career; I leave with confidence that this organization will continue to grow and prosper. I will be staying through April 25 to help the leadership of GLI identify and recruit a replacement to lead this organization going forward. We will outline a clear vision for the future of the program and a schedule of events to live up to our mission for many years to come. We will be posting the job opening on GLI’s career website in the next week or so. If you know of someone that might be a good fit to lead GLIP going forward, please contact Connie Grosse at cgrosse@greaterlouisville.com. Feel free to also reach out to me if you have any questions.
I encourage each of you to strengthen your involvement with the organization to perpetuate the energy and momentum built over the years. A series of events is in the pipeline for the coming months to live up to our reputation as the premiere networking organization for international business and expatriates.
I will plan to remain active on the GLIP Advisory board and attend GLIP upcoming events. Please stay in touch. I can also be reached via LinkedIn. It has been a pleasure serving you.
Sincere regards,
Michael Iacovazzi Pau

Bienvenida to Our New GLIP Ambassador for Venezuela
Please join us in welcoming Nereida Avendaño, who has recently stepped up to represent Louisville's Venezuelan community as GLIP Country Ambassador. Originally from Caracas, Avendano has lived in the U.S. for 20 years, and 2 years ago made Louisville her home. Aside from her work as a tax consultant, Nereida enjoys boating on the river and visiting Kentucky lakes. She's part of the Louisville scene, often attending networking events and art and cultural activities. Her broad professional experience, her passion for intercultural exchange and her strong connection to the community combine to make Avendano an ideal GLIP Ambassador. Check out her country page and connect with the Venezuelan community and its 28 GLIP members!
