NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE ENDORSES LUTHER STRANGE
FOR SENATE IN ALABAMA SPECIAL ELECTION

WASHINGTON – National Right to Life has endorsed Sen. Luther Strange (R) in Alabama’s August 15, Senate special election.

“National Right to Life is pleased to endorse Senator Luther Strange, whose position on life reflects the true values of Alabama’s voters,” said Karen Cross, National Right to Life political director. “Senator Strange has a 100 percent pro-life voting record in the 115th Congress, including votes to confirm Neil Gorsuch to be an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Senator Strange will cosponsor the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – legislation to protect unborn children who can feel pain by prohibiting abortion at 20 weeks, a point by which the unborn child is capable of experiencing great pain when being killed by dismemberment or other late abortion methods. Luther Strange supports legislation to block federal funding to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider; and he voted to repeal much of Obamacare, including the provision that has resulted in federal funding of health plans that pay for elective abortion.

Luther Strange is a cosponsor of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, a bill that would establish a permanent, government-wide policy against funding abortions or health plans that cover abortions.

“As a co-chair of the Senate Values Action Team, Senator Strange is a leader in the fight for pro-life legislation in the United States Senate,” Cross added.

On July 27, Senator Strange offered Amendment no. 389, which would extend Hyde amendment protections to a Senate health care bill’s tax credit provisions. This measure would have had a major impact toward reducing the amount of federal funds flowing to health care plans that cover elective abortion.

All voters who are concerned with the right to life and with the protection of the most vulnerable members of the human family should vote to return Luther Strange to the U.S. Senate, so that he can continue to advance vital pro-life public policies
