Josh Hawley wins in race for U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON – Pro-life Republican candidate Josh Hawley tonight defeated pro-abortion Sen. Claire McCaskill in the race for U.S. Senate. Hawley was endorsed by National Right to Life.

“We congratulate pro-life Senator-elect Josh Hawley,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “National Right to Life’s outreach to Missouri voters was key to ensuring that the pro-life values of the state are represented in the U.S. Senate by Josh Hawley.”

National Right to Life’s political committees actively contacted pro-life voters across Missouri through mail, email, social media, and phone calls with information about Hawley and McCaskill’s positions on abortion. In total, National Right to Life’s political committees mailed over 300,000 pro-life households in Missouri. Additionally, National Right to Life’s political committees aired over 3,000 radio ads statewide on behalf of Hawley.

Josh Hawley opposes abortion on demand, and he opposes using tax dollars to pay for abortion. Hawley also supports the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – legislation to protect unborn children by prohibiting abortion at 20 weeks, a point by which the unborn child is capable of experiencing great pain when being killed by dismemberment or other late abortion methods.

“National Right to Life looks forward to working with Josh Hawley in the U.S. Senate to advance life-affirming, pro-life policies that protect unborn children and their mothers,” said Tobias.
