Building Workforce Capacity to Meet the Needs of Communities during Turbulent Times
informatics2015-1_1025280.jpgCOVID-19 has undoubtedly put a strain on the public health workforce and its resources. Nationwide, local health departments have the ongoing challenges of contending with reduced funding, staff reductions, and increased workloads. Expanding the public health workforce capacity is important now more than ever to meet the changing health needs of communities in the U.S.

At NACCHO 360, there will be several sharing sessions highlighting the theme of Track 2, “Leadership and Workforce Development.” These sessions will provide an overview of assessing staff knowledge and organizational needs, methods that help local health departments train and retain a competent workforce, expanding the role of local health departments in advancing health equity, and much more.
